Storm hinders containment plans

hurricane alex talknation.usAlex, the first hurricane of the season has already started creating problems for the Gulf of Mexico cleanup operations even though it is approximately 500 miles away from the place.

According to some officials, even though the storm is not likely to disrupt BP's efforts to plug the leaking oil well, it has stopped containment ships from skimming and igniting operations. The storm has been reported to cause huge waves and high seas that have hindered these operations.

According to an official from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the strong ocean currently may lead to oil being washed up to the Louisiana coastline. On the other hand the storm may also cause dispersion of oil particles thus making it easier for microbe to degenerate the oil globules.

In other news, region near the Louisiana coast reported heavy rainfall, that was primarily due to the mixing of the moist hurricane winds with the cold winds from the North.
